Free flooring invoice template

A flooring invoice bills the job from your approved estimate: the same square footage (and waste allowance, if the estimate had one), removal, subfloor prep, underlayment, the install, transitions, trim, and stairs, each on its own line. Say who supplied the flooring, add extra work the customer OK'd, subtract the deposit, and show the balance due. Print it or save it as a PDF.

Nothing leaves your device. Everything you type into the invoice stays in this browser tab. It isn't uploaded, saved, or sent anywhere, so refreshing or closing the page clears it. Save as PDF before you close it.

What a flooring invoice should spell out

The new floor is down, but a single total doesn't show how many square feet you billed, whether waste was included, or why the bill went up when the subfloor was soft. The invoice should match the estimate line for line. A few habits help:

This is a general template, not legal or tax advice. Licensing, invoicing and sales tax rules vary by state and city, so check your state and local rules.

Questions

Do I bill the measured square footage or the amount with waste?

Bill it the way your estimate priced it. If the estimate showed the measured area and a waste allowance, show both numbers on the invoice too, so the customer can match them.

How do I invoice flooring the customer bought?

Say on the install line that the customer supplied the flooring, and bill the installation and anything you did supply, like underlayment, transitions, or trim.

What if the subfloor needed more work than the estimate allowed?

Put the extra prep or repair on its own line, priced the way the estimate said, with a note that the customer OK'd it and how, for example "approved by text, 10/15."

Do I charge sales tax on a flooring invoice?

It depends on your state and city, and on whether you supplied the materials. Check with your state's tax agency or your tax preparer.
