Free house cleaning invoice template
A fill-in invoice for house cleaning jobs: a one-time deep clean, a move-in or move-out clean, or recurring weekly or biweekly visits. Type it in on this page, then print it or save it as a PDF to send. The gray hints in each line are only suggestions and don't print.
Nothing leaves your device. Everything you type into the invoice stays in this browser tab. It isn't uploaded, saved, or sent anywhere, so refreshing or closing the page clears it. Save as PDF before you close it.
What a house cleaning invoice should spell out
A customer comes home to a clean house, but a single total doesn't show which visits it covers, what type of clean each one was, or why this month's bill has an extra line. The invoice should match the estimate or cleaning agreement line for line and add up without a phone call. A few habits help:
- Point back to the estimate or agreement. Put the estimate or agreement number and the service date or dates in the header, so the customer can lay the two side by side.
- One line per service, worded like the estimate. A standard clean, a deep clean, and a move-in or move-out clean each get their own line, in the same words the estimate or agreement used, so the customer can see which type of clean they're paying for.
- Recurring visits listed by date. For weekly or biweekly cleaning, put each visit on its own line with its date and the per-visit price you agreed on, rather than one lump sum for the month.
- Add-ons on their own lines. Inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior windows, laundry, or inside cabinets go on separate lines, not folded into the clean.
- Extra time added on site, on its own line. If a visit ran long because the customer asked for more while you were there, list the extra time separately and note that they OK'd it and how, for example "approved by text, 10/21".
- Supplies, only if you charge for them. If the estimate or agreement listed a supplies fee, show it on its own line. If it didn't, don't add one now.
- Anything not done, and why. If a room was skipped at the customer's request or couldn't be reached, say so in the notes and whether it was billed.
- Reschedule or late-cancel fees, only as agreed in writing. Charge one only if the estimate or agreement spelled it out before the visit, and use the same name and amount it gave.
- Deposit or prepaid amount, and the balance due. If the customer paid a deposit or prepaid for visits, subtract it so the balance due is the biggest, clearest number on the page. (Thinking about asking for one? See how to ask for a deposit.)
- A real due date. "Due on receipt" or an actual date is easier to follow up on than "net 30."
- How to pay, in one step. Put your own payment link on the invoice (from the payment service you already use), plus who checks are payable to. The fewer steps, the sooner you get paid.
- Tips are the customer's choice. Leave tips off the invoice unless the customer asks how to add one.
- If it's late, a polite reminder. A short, friendly note with the invoice attached and the payment link again usually does it. See the follow-up section of how to write an invoice that gets paid on time for wording.
